What is the Connect and Grow Programme?
The Connect and Grow Programme is UCT Online High School's social and emotional learning initiative, designed to support the holistic development of learners. This unique offering empowers learners to navigate social, emotional, and academic challenges while building essential skills for self-directed learning which is a crucial component of our learning model.
Connect and Grow is about fostering meaningful social connections. Learners come together weekly to engage in dynamic, interactive sessions with their peers and Learner Success Specialist. These sessions provide a safe, inclusive space where learners can build friendships, share experiences, and grow alongside others who are on the same journey. Whether exploring life skills, discussing challenges, or simply having fun, each session encourages collaboration, connection, and a sense of belonging.
Senior Phase (Grade 8 & 9) learners can expect to gain more insight into:
Learners explore topics such as self-discovery, emotional wellbeing, time management and building connections in an online learning environment.
FET Phase (Grades 10 - 12) learners can expect to gain more insight into:
Learners explore topics such as managing stress, maintaining a healthy mindset, developing skills for school and career success, and preparing for life beyond school.
📍Connect and Grow is optional and does not replace Life Orientation. It is an additional programme designed to support learners' personal and social development.
How does the Connect and Grow Programme work?
Weekly live sessions: 30–45-minute interactive sessions with the Learner Success Specialist.
Calendar access: Sessions are scheduled in the learner's UCT Online High School Google Calendar.
Grade-specific support: Content is tailored to learners' developmental stage.
Additional resources: Enrolled learners can access supporting Connect and Grow resources on the Online Campus.
What can learners gain from Connect and Grow?
Through Connect and Grow, learners have opportunities to:
develop practical social, emotional and life skills;
build confidence, resilience and self-awareness;
connect with peers in a supportive environment;
develop skills that support self-directed learning; and
prepare for challenges at school and beyond.
How to sign up for the Connect and Grow Programme?
Connect and Grow is an optional, subscription-based programme that guardians can sign their learner up for through the Guardian Portal.

⭐Monthly billing fee? R249 monthly and is collected the same way tuition fees are invoiced. You can cancel your subscription at any time.
🧍Who can join? CAPS Learners in grades 8 - 12 (please note that Adult Matric Learners cannot apply for this add-on programme)
